It is an association of ethnic minorities in united Kingdom established to foster unity & harmony among the ethnic minority, support the aged and the less privileged in the community, organize recreational and religious activities, education and training, prevention and relief of poverty, update members with opportunities available elsewhere. We have services for children, youth and women – different needs are all tackled with different programs. We aim to take the youth off the streets by doing a lot of work tackling youth employment, youth engagement, domestic violence, gun culture substance misuse. The purpose is to ensure that no one lives as an individual in the community in which they find themselves.

Membership is open to everyone over 18 years.

Every association thrives on the contributions and donations from members and Zumuntah is no exception. The executives upon consultation with members set the annual dues. In order to make life simple for everyone, some members are exempted from paying dues and these are those who are unemployed and are not in receipt of state aid, those who are hospitalized on long term and those whose circumstances will make it impossible for them to pay dues.

The primary aim of the association is to ensure that members are there for each other in times of need. The association has a welfare package and this will be communicated to you when registering.

In life and as in all other things, no one knows what the future holds for him/her. Only Allah knows best. As ethnic minorities, we live, work, send money back home for relatives and for investments. More often that not, if a person loses his/her life, their employers may not see their body before burial, the family back home may not see the body before burial. But the person’s community members have to be there to ensure that the appropriate thing is done. It is difficult if not impossible to name an ethnic minority who has taken out funeral insurance to cover any eventuality. This alone is enough reason for us to unite and have unity of purpose.

No. The association does not give loans to members. Members are encouraged to take advantage of their membership of the association to network and build good relationships and they may be able to get support from individuals based on that.

No. The welfare package has set certain conditions that need to be met to qualify for welfare package to avoid anyone paying in one month and asking for benefit the month after.

The association is tolerant and accommodates all without regard to race, ethnicity or religious affiliation.

We are well aware that not all members live close to the Zumuntah Islamic centre and as such it will be unfair to use their dues for recreational activities. The dues are solely for the benefit of paying members and not to be used to organize recreational activities. The dues will not be used for Iftar, parties and other programs. The executives will consult with the entire membership of the group for approval if part of the dues is to be used for other activities.

An appeal for funds will be made in plenty of time for members to donate for activities such as Iftar and other religious and recreational activities.

The dues will be kept in zumuntah savings account. There is no bank card on that account and cash cannot be withdrawn at the ATM or counter. Money can only be transferred to another account by two authorized signatories and this means any money taken out can be traced. In addition, there is monthly update of the bank balance on the website for members who are both far and near to know the status of our finances at all times. All executives have signed the “fit to practice test” recommended by HM Revenue & Customs and this is kept at the office for a continuous period of 5years after an executive leaves office and this is in line with HMRC requirements.
